A scientific investigation of a trial operation carried out at a shipping terminal in Copenhagen has revealed that it is possible to shorten the amount of time that delayed or stranded freight remains in the port of Bremerhaven.The research article asserts that the logistics problem caused by delayed products is the biggest obstacle to implementing the major improvements the Danish port has to make, even though the program started in June.Jorgen Liebenwaldt, from the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen's Department of Transportation Economics, states that "we are convinced that this is the right time to test new transport planning tools in a realistic, controlled environment and now is the time to prove that these new logistics tools work."
To develop the new logistical solutions, several companies collaborated with logistics experts from the Danish Transport Agency and the universities of Aalborg and Copenhagen.
